From spreadsheets to “this is the one” — how they found Leonards Hill Estate
When Maddy and Rudich got engaged, they’ll admit — they had no idea where to start. Both from Brisbane, with Rudich’s family originally from South Africa, they wanted a day that felt relaxed, meaningful, and true to them.
The first challenge? Deciding whether to have a big celebration or something more intimate. After talking through (in their words) “about 2000 versions” of what their wedding could look like, they realised a smaller day with their closest people was exactly what they wanted.
Once they made that call, the hunt for the perfect venue began — and it was serious business. There was a spreadsheet, complete with budgets, inclusions, categories, and ‘vibes’. They looked at venues across the country, scrolling, saving, comparing, until it felt like they’d seen them all.
And then — a few days after wrapping up their search — Maddy decided to have one last look.
That’s when they found Leonards Hill Estate.
As Maddy tells it, the moment she saw the photos, she started to cry. The property, the Shed, the accommodation, the feel of the place — it just fit. The spreadsheet was forgotten, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We loved hosting their beautiful, heartfelt intimate wedding — a relaxed and genuine celebration that reflected them perfectly.

Our wedding planning journey came with every emotion, from indecisiveness to pure happiness, and El was there through it all. She wasn’t just the Venue Manager at Leonards Hill Estate - she became a friend.
El was my biggest support. She was easy to talk to, reliable, flexible, open-minded, incredibly responsive, and always in our corner.
Photos simply don’t do this venue justice. You need to stand at Leonards Hill Estate, breathe it in, and picture your day. Every time we visited, we knew „this is it, this is our venue.“
We are so grateful to El and her husband Keith for everything they did - big and small - to make our wedding truly ours. With El, it never felt like just a job to her or just a wedding. She was part of our wedding. She feels every wedding. She cares deeply, and you can see and feel it in everything she does.
Not only do we love her - our guests did too. El gave her all to make everyone feel welcome. She checked in on me throughout the day, we laughed, we hugged, and her responsiveness and energy were next-level.
El, Keith - we are so proud that Leonards Hill Estate was our venue of choice. Thank you for every message, every phone call, every hug, and every coffee.
